Women can travel free in transport buses, no conditions imposed: Ramalingareddy
Transport Minister Dr Ramalingareddy said that all women in the state can travel in government buses free of cost, no conditions are imposed.
Bus travel will be free for women passengers across the state. He clarified that all girls and women will travel free.
Addressing a press conference after holding a meeting with the officials of the Karnataka State Transport Corporation, the minister said, "I have consulted with the officials about the pros and cons of today's meeting. The total revenue of the four corporations is Rs 8,946.85 crore. Total operating cost is Rs 12,750.49 crore. There is Financial situation of four corporations, loss due to Covid, purchase of new bus, appointment of employees are discussed. You have discussed to put buses on the demand side. We will submit the meeting report to Siddaramaiah. Siddaramaiah said that he had a consultation with the Principal Secretary of the Transport Department yesterday.
So about 3.5 crore women of the state can benefit from this scheme. There are no conditions for this. He said that he has talked with the chief ministers, all secretaries and MDs.
